When assessing your equipment for compatibility, note the following:
- The trainer control must be able to:
- Change from %grade mode to erg mode
- Set the appropriate resistance on smart trainer or smart bike
- Record the data in the correct .fit file format.
- The Garmin ConnectIQ app uses a generic Ant channel to control the trainer. Many of the Garmin devices listed don’t natively control a trainer via the FE-C profile, but they will still work with the ConnectIQ App.
- All smart trainers listed are direct drive (wheel off) trainers. Wheel-on trainers are not recommended as they tend to slip during the sprint portions of the assessment producing inaccurate results.
